About IFA / India Holi Mela in Kansai

Dear friends living in Japan,

We, the "IFA – India Festival Association", led by Sunil Bulani from India, are excited to host a Holi Mela event on March 28 in Itami City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.

This event is also the realization of a long-cherished dream of our representative. At our memorable first event last year, not only members of the Indian community but also many Japanese participants who were new to Holi Mela enjoyed the celebration.

“India Holi Mela in Kansai” will be held in the same spirit and style as it is celebrated in India, preserving its authenticity while carefully adapting it to Japanese society with the utmost attention to safety. Although it is a local event supported by dedicated volunteers, we are confident that even those who have experienced Holi Mela as part of their everyday lives will find it joyful and truly memorable.

We warmly look forward to welcoming you.

For a Safe and Exciting Day

カラーパウダー

Safe, HQ Color Powder

To help keep everyone safe, we ask that you do not bring your own color powder. Instead, we will provide a highly safe powder made from natural ingredients.

We carefully select powders that are gentle on the skin and easy to wash off with water, so you can use them with peace of mind.

インドの子ども

Also a KIDS-ONLY area

In addition to the main playground area that everyone can enjoy, we also provide a separate ground reserved exclusively for children.

Kids can have fun there safely together with their accompanying parent or guardian.

Children age 5 and under do not need a ticket, but an accompanying adult must purchase a ticket and stay with them.

標識

To Hold Holi in Japan

We have rules in place to protect everyone’s safety and enjoyment—such as not throwing color powder and never forcing it on anyone who doesn’t want it.

We need everyone’s cooperation to make that possible. Let’s make this Holi a fun, warm, and welcoming one!

Stage & Vendors

On our free stage, you’ll see not only performers from India, but also many talented Japanese artists—led by Manami Mogari—who have mastered Indian instruments and dance.

Come experience their dazzling, masterful music and performances for yourself.

In addition, we’ll have a wide variety of vendor booths offering food and goods. From international cuisine to Japanese favorites, even popular local restaurants from Itami will be joining us. Enjoy everything at your own pace in our food court–style setting.

F.A.Q.

Q: Is admission free?
A: Admission is free (including viewing, food & beverage area entry, and stage viewing). Participation in the "Color Powder Action" requires purchasing an official ticket in advance or at the venue on the day of the event.

Q: What do I receive with a ticket?
A: On the day of the event, you will receive an official T-shirt, one pack of color powder (one color), a wet towel, and a take-home bag at the venue.

Q: Is there a place to change into the official T-shirt?
A:
On the day of the event, we will set up separate changing tents for men and women at the venue.

As long as the official T-shirt is worn as the outermost layer, you’re free to wear anything underneath—so you can also enjoy the event without needing a full change of clothes.

Q: What happens if it rains?
A: In case of rain, the event will be postponed to Sunday, March 29. If it also rains on the 29th, T-shirts will be distributed at the venue or at a designated location (planned: Tandoori Delight or Sankenji-mae Plaza).

Q: What kind of powder is the color powder? Will it wash out?
A: We carefully select water-based powders made from naturally derived ingredients that are also used in food products, and they are generally easy to wash off. However, we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and protecting your eyes with goggles or similar gear. Applying moisturizer or baby oil beforehand can also help the color come off more easily after the festival. (Bringing your own color powder is not permitted.)

Q: What time should I come to participate?
A: You can join at any time between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM during each session. Please note that entry may be restricted if it becomes crowded.

The final session runs from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The overall event, including the stage and vendor areas, continues until 5:00 PM.

Q: Why is the event being held so much later than the actual date of Holi (March 4 in 2026)?
A: Because it’s colder in Japan than in India ...
